M.I.A. on the Cover of Complex

Looks like Complex has snagged the lovely and sometimes controversial M.I.A. for their June/July issue cover. The issue features a very nice photo spread of the artist inside.

R.I.P. Dennis Hopper (Actor, Artist, Photographer)

So Dennis Hopper passed away today at the age of 74 due to complications from prostate cancer. Hopper was a legendary actor who had memorable roles in films like Easy Rider, Blue Velvet and Apocalypse Now. What you might not know is that he was an accomplished photographer and painter with close ties to art legends like Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Willem De Kooning, and Ed Ruscha. These are some of my favorites of Hopper's photos.

Steve Nash can Skate (at least a little)

Huf Footwear Comercials

I'm getting a serious case of homesickness watching these commercials for Huf Footwear. I definitely recognize a lot of the spots and can almost feel the wheels under my feet as I imagine riding through the streets of SF on a sunny day.

Ellen Stagg & Living Proof Custome Skateboard

Looks like everyone is jumping on the custom skateboard band wagon from soccer teams to magazines. Still this would look good on my wall.

Stencil Art by Zhe155

Zhe155 is a UK based artist whose "China Girls" stencil pieces have been making ugly urban landscapes across Europe a little prettier. David Bowie would be proud. You can see more of his work at Flickr.

Londons Famous Double Decker Buses Get Moderized

London's iconic double-decker buses are getting a design upgrade (and greener powerplants), as revealed today on the city of London's website. Scheduled to go into service in 2012, the new bus boasts a more "light and airy feel inside the bus" due to extensive use of glass, including along the staircases (there's two), and a "hop-on, hop-off" platform has been added to the rear.
